April 19, 2024 - Choir Update

Hello Parents and Students -

Thank you for everyone's support during UIL - You all are amazing and I am so thankful for all of you.  Those that came to watch, those that drove their students because of conflicts, those that made sure their student was at the school early - all of it.  Your students did a great job, and while there was some disappointment there was so much more to celebrate.  Your students have truly grown as strong musicians and we are so very proud of each and every one of them.

A few things for next week and the rest of the year:

Thursday, April 25th - Angel's Ice House - 7:00-9:00pm (the student list will be coming out very soon)

Tuesday, May 7th - Spring Pop Concert at 7:00pm at the PAC (THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR EVERYONE)

Saturday, May 18th - Banquet at the School Cafeteria

Monday, May 20th - Senior Send Off after school

It is the last chance to purchase Choir Spirit Buttons on our Website - These would be great for graduation, and as a Keepsake (you know grandma/grandpa/younger sibling/YOU want one).

Also, our Booster Club has new members up for election for the 2024-25 Executive Board.  The officers slated will be:

1. Sarah Williamson - President

2. Peari Shah - Vice President

3. Gin Berryhill - Secretary

4. Amy Lowrance - Treasurer

5. Shauntelle Thompson - Events Coordinator

6. Dara Lauritzen - Sponsorships

7. Kim Kingsley - Website/Social Media Manager

8. Roxi Tsakas - Hospitality

9. Julie Ellett - Student Support

If you would like to be on a committee to help out with a singular event, or help out any of these wonderful people, please let us know.

Thank you so much parents for your continued support.  We appreciate you so much.

We are encouraging as many parents and families to come listen to their student's UIL performance as possible.  These kids are singing beautifully!!

Non-Varsity Mixed - Friday, 4/12 @ 11:00am

Varsity Mixed - Friday, 4/12 @2:20pm

All students need to bring clothes to change into as they will be turning in their entire uniform, velvet hanger, and garment bag, once they are done with UIL.  Please refer to the previous email about when students need to be on campus.

April 03, 2024 - UIL Times and Schedules

Hello Parents -

These last two days with our clinician have been amazing.  Dr. McLean from Baylor gave our students some great things to think about and to apply to their music.

If your student is in Varsity Mixed - I am changing our rehearsal time to 8:30-10:30am on Monday 4/8.

We are still getting ready for UIL, but I wanted to make sure everyone knows the entire schedule so check for your students class:

All Performances are at Cedar Park High School in the Performing Arts Center.  You should be able to park on that side of the school.

Freshmen Tenor/Bass - Wednesday, 4/10 - 11:20am

Day of Schedule:

Do not go to 1st period, meet in the choir room at 8:50.  Change into Tuxedo and begin warming up.  They will leave at 9:50am on the bus to be at Cedar Park by 10:45am.  They will warm up and then perform.  They should be done by noon, and will come back to school.  They should change out of their uniform and LEAVE IT IN THEIR BAG WITH THEIR NAME ON IT.  This is how we will check in uniforms.  They will not need it after UIL.  They will then go to C lunch at 1:45 and then to their 8th period class (this is a B Day).

Freshmen Treble - Thursday, 4/11 - 10:20am

Day of Schedule:

They need to be in the choir room, dressed in their uniform, by 8:00am.  We need to be able to warm up and get vocally ready before we leave at 8:55.  It will take a while to get to Cedar Park at this time so hopefully one hour is enough time.  They will warm up at 10:00, perform and be done by about 11:00am.  They should be back on campus by about 12:00 and will change.  They should change out of their uniform and LEAVE IT IN THEIR BAG WITH THEIR NAME ON IT.  This is how we will check in uniforms.  They will not need it after UIL.  All students will be released back to their A Day Classes by 1:00.  This is a testing day so I will double check with the admin as to what they want these students to do for the rest of the day.

Non Varsity Mixed - Friday, 4/12 - 10:20am

Varsity Treble - Friday, 4/12 - 11:00am

Day of Schedule:

They need to be in the choir room, dressed in their uniform, by 8:00am.  We need to be able to warm up and get vocally ready before we leave at 8:55.  Both Groups will be leaving at about the same time.  Varsity Treble will be right behind the Mixed choir.  It will take a while to get to Cedar Park at this time so hopefully one hour is enough time.  Non Varsity Mix will warm up at 10:00, perform and be done by about 11:00am.  Varsity Treble will warm up at 10:40, perform and then be finished by about 11:40am.  Non-Varsity Mixed will be coming back a little sooner so that Mr. Poynor can be back to get Varsity Mixed ready.  They should be back on campus by about 12:00 and will change and then be released to class.  If they have A Lunch I will give them specific instruction for what to do.  Varsity Treble should be back by about 12:30 - they will all change, stay in the choir room until C Lunch and then be released to their 4th period class.  All students should change out of their uniform and LEAVE IT IN THEIR BAG WITH THEIR NAME ON IT.  This is how we will check in uniforms.  They will not need it after UIL.

Varsity Mixed - Friday, 4/12 - 2:20pm

Day of Schedule:

This is a B Day, so they will go to their 5th period and then come to the choir room for 6th period (their normal period) to warm up and practice with our student director Lance Najera.  It would be great if ALL STUDENTS could bring their lunch this day and eat during the last half of the class period.  That way they can change and be ready to work with Mr. Poynor when he returns at 12:20.  We will leave at 1:00pm, warm up at 2:00pm and then perform.  We should be done by 3:00pm.  We will try to get back to campus by 4:00pm, but I am not 100% positive this will happen.  Students should change out of their uniform and LEAVE IT IN THEIR BAG WITH THEIR NAME ON IT.  This is how we will check in uniforms.  They will not need it after UIL.  Hopefully they can make it to their bus if they ride it, but I cannot guarantee that.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

March 21, 2024 - Important Information

Dear Parents and Families -

We are in the final 9 weeks of school!

Thank you to everyone that went/sent their students to Paris - it was an amazing trip and hopefully lasting memories were made (I know they were on my part).  If you went to Paris, please check your WhatsApp and post pictures into the google folder.

We have a concert next WEDNESDAY!  Along with that we have some very important information to relay to all of you:

This Saturday 3/23 - Capes and Crowns - 2:00-4:00pm in the LTHS Cafeteria.  Please encourage your student to help out with this event if they are not already doing so.  We will need help beginning at 11:00am to help set up for this event.

Wednesday 3/27 - Pre-UIL & Elementary Honor Choir Concert - 6:00pm in the LTHS PAC.  Students will need to bring their complete uniform to school that day as they will not leave school.  We will feed them a light snack - as we should be done by about 7:15pm so they can have dinner afterward.  This is our Pre-UIL.

Monday 4/8 - Varsity Mixed has a rehearsal scheduled for that day from 9:30-12:00.  You will be done before the Eclipse begins.

Wednesday 4/10 - Freshmen Tenor Bass goes to UIL at Cedar Park HS at 11:00am

Thursday 4/11 - Freshmen Treble Choir goes to UIL at Cedar Park HS at 9:20am.  I am trying to get this time changed as it is very early and traffic at that time going north is terrible.

Friday 4/12 - Non-Varsity Mixed Choir goes to UIL at Cedar Park HS at 10:00am; Varsity Treble at 10:40am; Varsity Mixed at 2:00pm.

We invite all parents to come to Cedar Park to watch our UIL performances as this is the pinnacle of some of their singing.

Thank you so much for everything that you are doing for your students.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Have a great day!

November 29, 2023 - Winter Concert Information

Dear Parents and Families -

I wanted to reach out to everyone with a few reminders about the concert next week, Wednesday, Dec. 6th at the PAC at 7:00pm

Students will need to bring with them to school their complete uniform (including Black Dress Shoes, socks, ties if applicable) in their uniform bag.  They will also need a second outfit consisting of a tacky christmas sweater, or holiday themed attire - a Buddy-the-Elf-onesie... They can wear jeans with this as long as they don't have extra holes in them and regular close-toed shoes.  They could potentially wear this to school that day if they would like to do so as it needs to be school appropriate.

All students will stay after school that day for our rehearsal after school!  We will be feeding your students dinner so please make sure that they know they should be eating dinner with us.

This concert is also hosting a silent auction presented by our Booster Club.  Here is the information:

Hello to all of you tremendous supporters of the LTHS Cav Choir Program!

We are so pleased to offer this exciting and easy fundraiser that is packed full of goodies. Our silent auction will run through the end of our Winter Concert (December 6). All bids will be placed right here on the site. All funds will go toward supporting these talented Cav Choirs!

Make sure to keep checking back the site, we may still have some items coming in and we would not want you to be outbid.

Please click on each individual item as there are multiple pictures and additional information.

**PLEASE NOTE: An 8% buyers premium has been added to each item to cover the cost of the electronic bidding site and availability of multiple payment options.

All items will be available for pick up after the Winter Concert.

Here is the link:

https://new.biddingowl.com/laketravischoir

Please feel free to share this link with anyone you think might want to participate in the auction.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Have a great day!

November 17, 2023 - Choir Update

Dear Families and Friends -

We are nearing the end of our first semester together and it has definitely been a journey.  Your students are working extremely hard to make sure that this next concert is even better than the previous.  Please read through the entire email as there are many items I need to make sure parents are aware of.

Glow Fundraiser - you should have received an email from me earlier in the week regarding a new fundraising opportunity.  We are encouraging parents and students to share their personal Glow invitation to anyone that they think would be willing to donate to the choir program.  Here is the invitation to join that I initially gave: Glow

Thank you to those who have already signed up and started giving.

Pre-Area Auditions - We have thirteen students that will be competing on Tuesday, November 28th to go on to the next round of auditions.  We wish them all the best of luck.

REQUIRED WINTER CONCERT - Wednesday, December 6th at 7:00 PM in the PAC.

Please make sure that your student has their formal uniform that was issued to them at the beginning of the year and that it still fits.  Please check to make sure that it is hemmed appropriately: dresses should be no more than an inch off the floor, and pants should break at the top of the foot.  ALL STUDENTS are required to wear black DRESS shoes (not black vans or combat boots).  If your student doesn't have any and you need support in getting some, please let me know ASAP so I can try to help find some for you.  I will not have time to be able to find any during the week of the concert.  There will be a silent auction at this event as well so be on the lookout for that link.

Choir Banquet - Our original date for the choir banquet was the date chosen by the Prom Committee, so we had to find a new date.  The new date for the choir banquet is May 18, 2024.  More information will be coming regarding the banquet.

Have a wonderful break and I am excited for you to hear your students on the 6th. INVITE EVERYONE to come hear these wonderful students.

October 23, 2023 - THANK YOU!

Dear Parents and Families -

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you that came to help out this weekend.  A huge thank you to Dave Williamson, Greg & Julie Ellett, Bruce Crompton, The Muck Family, Dara Welch-Lauritzen, The Berryhills, April Paine, Scott Robinson, Brian DeCou and everyone else that helped out with moving the risers (I am sorry if I forgot to name you).  We could not have done it without all of you.  The concert was a huge success, your students sang beautifully, the Middle School students rocked it out as well!  I had many community members come up to me and say how much they appreciated hearing our students and seeing them sing together with others within their community.

Thank you so much - you all are amazing!

A few things:

Homecoming Parade is Wednesday, all students are invited to join us after school wearing your choir shirt (unless you are a senior).  Parade starts at about 6:00pm, we will all sing the national anthem in the stadium afterward - so stick around.

Senior Breakfast is Thursday Nov. 2nd at 7:45 in the choir room so seniors and parents of seniors you are invited to come.

Winter Concert - Wednesday, December 6th at the PAC at 7:00pm.

October 11, 2023 - Meeting Tomorrow (10/12)

Hello Everyone -

Don't forget about our Parent Meeting Tomorrow, Thursday, October 12th at 6:00pm in the choir room.  We might be moving into the Recital Hall if possible as we potentially need more room than what the choir room can hold.  I will email out again tomorrow with the final placement of the meeting.  Thank you for being patient with us.

October 5, 2023 - Angel's Icehouse is STILL ON!

Just wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know that come rain or shine (I guess moonlight), we WILL be performing at Angel's Icehouse tonight between 7:00-9:00.  Angel's is kind enough to let us sing inside today if the weather doesn't allow us to sing outside.  Thank you for supporting these students.

September 22, 2023 - Choir Update

Choir Family -

It is the week before our first concert!  Your students have been working very hard to create a memorable concert.  "Let the River Run" is the title of our Fall concert this year and I highly encourage you to tell any and everyone about it.  This free concert is not only your students' proof of their hard work, but also our gift to our community.

The concert is Thursday, September 28th at 7:00pm at the Lake Travis PAC.

The attire for the concert is this year's choir shirt (will be handed out on Monday and Tuesday, the 25th and 26th), jeans without extra holes in them, and closed-toe shoes.  Your student is getting several grades for this event, so please make sure that they stay after school that day so they can receive full credit for all grades.

If you haven't paid your Choir Fee (My Fair Share) please make sure that it gets paid as soon as possible.

September 18, 2023 - Required Paris Informational Meeting

Dear Families and Students -

I am so excited to announce that everyone who was wanting to go on the Paris trip is able to go.  This is going to be a great experience for your students, but we need to make sure that everyone is receiving all the needed information.

We will have a REQUIRED parent and student meeting on Thursday, October 12th at 6:00pmIf you saw that there was one on the 25th of September, it has been changed.  This will be a time for us to make sure all beginning documents are in order and for initial questions.  If you do not have your passport, please make sure that you get it ASAP.  Remember the wait time after you send in all the information can be up to 12 weeks.  If you have your Passport, please double check to make sure that it is good through September 15, 2024 - the new regulations require that your passport is still valid 6 months after you travel.

This will also be a great time for parents to meet and get to know one another, so the meeting itself should be relatively short with time afterward for specific questions and then time for parents to mingle and get to know each other.  We will talk about expectations and have some district paperwork that you will need to fill out, so please make sure that you are here.  I am super excited about this opportunity for your students!

August 25, 2023 - Parent Night Information

Thursday, September 14th - Parent Social at Meridian 98 - 7:00-9:00pm.  This will be an adults only social for parents to get together and meet up.  This is also a time to meet the board and the directors.  This is a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents of your students' friends that are in choir.

August 17, 2023 - Choir Update

Hello All -

It was so great getting to meet your students these past two days. We are excited about the possibilities for each of these choirs within our program.  Again please make yourself aware of our website: www.lthschoir.com  Make sure that you have filled out the Student Registration Form online - we will have more information  Do not sign up twice - we will fix it on our end to include choir.

Most of this information is on the website.

Important Dates:

Monday, August 21st - Uniform fittings after school for anyone that hasn't done it yet from 4:15-6:15pm.

Thursday, August 24th - Required Parent Meeting 6:30 pm in the Black Box Theater (enter through the Performing Arts Doors).  We will be discussing many aspects of the program and want to make sure that everyone is on the same/right page.  This is a great opportunity for the directors to get to meet new parents, for everyone to ask questions, and a first opportunity for parents of students going to Paris to begin to meet.  Uniform fittings can happen at this time as well with our council members during the meeting.

Monday, August 28th - Last uniform Fitting from 4:15-5:30pm - This will be the final opportunity for students to get fitted.  We need to get this done so please let us know ASAP if any of these extra dates do not work.  We will not be doing fittings during the class periods, so all students need to plan to attend one of these three fittings if they haven't done so already.

Wednesday, August 30th - LTHS Open House 6:00-8:00pm

Thursday, September 14th - Parent Social from 7:00-9:00pm, more information coming soon.

Thursday, September 28th - Required Fall Concert for everyone 7:00pm in the PAC.  Details will come in a separate email once we get a little closer.  However, students will stay after school - they should not be leaving campus until after the concert that evening.

These last two days were a lot of information for the students as we went through the Choir Handbook with each class.  We are needing to make some small edits to the document and then it will get posted onto the website before the Parent Meeting on the 24th.  All students and parents will need to sign that they have read and agree to everything that is in that document.

If your student is wanting to begin voice lessons - I would recommend looking at the voice lessons page under the info tab and email the voice teachers.  Sydnee Simpson is unavailable for this year as she is on tour with her band.

We have been getting several questions about signing up for the Paris Trip.  The waitlist is getting full and I think we are very close to having that section open up.  Here is a link to the google slideshow concerning all aspects and the last slide explains how you can sign up for that trip.  I will apologize, the company will open up the payment option for those on the waitlist once we have enough people signed up.

Thank you so much for sharing your students and your students' talents with us.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Have a great Friday and we will see you at the Parent Meeting.

August 11, 2023 - Required Fittings

Hello Families -

It was so amazing getting to welcome you to or back to the choir room today.  We had several students come get their uniforms.  If you weren't able to come today, please try to make plans to come to the choir room on Tuesday, August 15th between 1:30-4:00pm to get your fitting done at that time.  We understand that conflicts arise and we will have one more time during the school year for you to be able to get this completed.

We are very excited to tell you our new hub for almost everything is the choir website: lthschoir.com

This is your hub for everything - Registration Form (everyone needs to fill it out), Volunteer Forms to fill out (we need your help), Sponsorship forms for both business and family sponsorships, the calendar of events and sooo much more.  This will also be the place for kids to go to get recordings and tracks for items as well as general information.  We are saying a huge thank you to the Swinford Family for taking on this task and Tuulikki Ylostalo for all of her work as well.

This is going to be a great resource, so make sure to check it out and have fun supporting the choir through the website.  Make sure to check out the calendar and look for upcoming dates to put on your calendar.  If you have any questions please let me know.

August 4, 2023 - Welcome to the Choir Family

Hello Parents and Families -

It is so hot outside.  How hot is it?  It's so hot, I can't wait to start this year!  Just kidding - We are very excited to start this year off and get going on everything.  If you are receiving this email, that means your student will be a part of the Cavalier Choir Program - "The Voice of the Cavaliers".  We have a lot of things coming up, so I wanted to make sure you all were aware of them so you can plan accordingly:

Friday August 11th - Choir Round up in the Choir Room.  This is a time for you to fill out all of the needed paperwork for Choir but the main thing is to do your fitting for your uniform.  We need every student to come and get fitted or get their past uniform.

  • We will begin at 9:30-11:30am with Juniors and Seniors.

  • 11:30am-1:30pm will be Freshmen and Sophomores.

Wednesday, August 16th - First Day of School

Thursday, August 24th  - Choir Parent Meeting @ 6:30pm.  We would love for all choir parents to be here for this informational meeting about the choir program.  This is a good opportunity to ask questions and to meet the directors, booster board, and some of the council.

Wednesday, August 30th  - LTHS Open House - 6:00-8:00pm

Thursday, September 28th - First Concert - This is a required event for all students

We cannot wait to begin to make music with your students and to see everyone.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
